What is Backoffice ?

The Backoffice or Back office or even BackOffice are the ways of writing the English term that, for us, has the meaning of support, also defined as back office, and refers to business departments that have little or no contact with customers.

Back, in English, means “behind”, and office has the meaning of “office”.

We can consider as BackOffice the departments that provide support for the general operation of the company, such as accounting, human resources, IT, warehouse, etc. The BackOffice brings together the people who work “behind the scenes”, behind the scenes.

BackOffice activities are generally restricted, reporting to the administration, although they are also activities whose execution is necessary for other sectors.

An important sector within any company, for example, is the call center which, despite having direct contact with external customers, provides a service without appearing in person.

BackOffice in Informatics

In the IT area, BackOffice is called the core of the system, the instructions that the system itself manages and that are not attributes of the end user. Possessing specific tasks, the BackOffice coordinates the activities required by the user, managing the operations, be it a store, company or even a web site.

The BackOffice has become so necessary in the computerized world that it even has a specific professional, the BackOffice analyst, who analyzes the internal processes of the system, creates operational and management reports, handles the necessary treatment of customer complaints or requests. and performs all support services for Front Office employees.

Also among their obligations is often the treatment of e-mails and the maintenance and updating of system files, which must always be in perfect condition for customer service, production, sales or service provision.
