What is Browser ?

Browser , also known as web browser , is a program specially developed to enable web browsing , processing the languages ​​used in computing, such as ASP, PHP, HTML, CSS. The languages, hosted on internet servers, are available to be accessed and transformed into common language and images, which can thus be accessible to Internet users.

The term in Portuguese for the browser is browser, coming from the language used on the internet for searches and searches among the millions of existing sites. In English, browser means searching, casually looking at something, and this has made it a synonym for the program that makes it possible to search the internet for what interests us.

Responsible for the interaction between the terminals and the servers, the browser processes the received data and creates the answers in an intelligible way. In current terms, they have plugins that can be installed as a complement, activating features that provide access to other types of content and applications.

Since its implementation, the browser has been evolving and managing to innovate its techniques. If before they only presented texts on the screen, today their performance allows direct interaction between users and servers. The first, such as the World Wide Web, was what launched the WWW protocol, which is still used by websites today. Created in 1990, it did not dominate the market for a long time.

Soon after, Internet Explorer appeared in 1995, created by Microsoft and which became hegemonic, being the leader worldwide until 2003, when Safari was launched by Apple, sharing with it the preference of Internet users. In 2004, Mozzila Firefox appeared, which was also attracting Internet users, as it was faster to assemble pages. The unbeatable, however, was made available by Google: Google Chrome, launched in 2004, is what internet users prefer today.

A good browser needs to have some features to streamline the interaction of the Internet user with the server, and among them we can highlight:

Ad blocking;

Automatic completion of form and address data (URL);

Favorites bar, to facilitate access to the most frequented sites;

CSS, cookies and ActiveX support;

Content caching;

Digital certificates and download management;

Integration with other web applications;

History of visited sites

In addition to these, a good browser also makes it possible to format user preferences, streamlining coexistence with the internet.

The term browser can also be applied to “browser game”, games that can be played online through the browser itself.
