What is GSM ?
GSM is an acronym of English origin.
The meaning of GSM , in English, is Global System for Mobile Communications , which translating into Portuguese, means Global System for Mobile Communications.
GSM is a technology for mobile handsets as well as the most popular technology among all handsets in the world.
GSM is an international standard, and its advantage is fully focused on this point. In some countries, the only available service will be , that is, the device will work in other places, based on a coverage contract.
Handset exchanges (for other GSM models) can be carried out easily, as it retains phone numbers by using independent chips, the so-called SIM cards. SIM cards still store data, such as the contact book for quick import to the new device.
GSM calls are assigned a certain period of time within the frequency (900 MHz to 1800 MHz), where the transmission is fully encrypted, which maintains security in the process, making fraud difficult.
GSM competition
GSM competes with the CDMA network. In this case, a disadvantage from theĀ point of view is that it is based on the TDMA network, while the CDMA network is more advanced.
Another disadvantage is its call capacity, which is more limited than CDMA, allowing up to ten on the same channel related to the distribution of unique codes.
But despite this, the performance of cell phones is quite similar.
The advantage of GSM is its ability to maintain compatibility with originalĀ phones.
