what is symbian ?
Symbian is an operating system for mobile phones mainly used by Nokia. Its launch took place in 1997 and since 2010 the company has sought, through its Symbian 3, to develop and improve its resources to compete with the systems that dominate the market.
what is symbian
The Symbian operating system platform was born from the merger and integration of software from Nokiz, NTT DoCoMo, Sony Ericson and Symbian Ltd.. At the end of 2008 Nokia bought Symbian Ltd. of Symbian, such as the Symbian OS core and user interface.
In February 2011, Nokia partnered with Microsoft to adopt the Windows Phone 7 system for smartphones; but in June of the same year, the Symbian system started to be developed by Accenture, whose contract runs until 2016.
However, Nokia itself, in January 2013, decided not to launch more devices with the Symbian system. The last model launched within this platform was the Nokia 808 Pureview, but some devices will no longer be supported by the company, such as the Nokia 701.
Main versions of Symbian
Since its inception, Symbian has had several versions and updates on its platform such as EPOC and Symbians 1, 2 and 3.
EPOC
Developed by Psion in the late 1980s. EPOC already had its 16 bit and 32 bit versions and its programming language was simple (OPL). The 32 bit came to become, around 1997, the Symbian OS.
Symbian 1
It was considered the first open OS phone through the Nokia 9210 Communicator model launched in 2001 and which had, among other things, support for the Bluetooth feature.
Symbian 2
Launched only in Japan in 2010, it used the MOAP as a graphical interface, in addition to a dual-orientation screen (which could rotate from portrait to landscape) and a 12-megapixel camera.
Symbian 3
Last version released in late 2010 and which features simple menus, touch UI and hardware graphics acceleration.
